Sicily - The Aeolian Islands

Dancing on Vulcanoes

You will find the Eolian Islands, called the seven pearls of the Mediterranian, north of Sicily in the Thyrrenian Sea. In the distance they seem to float on the sparkling sea under the blue sky.
All islands are of volcanic origin. Every single one is a jewel of its own with an individual character and particular charm.
The natural sights are spectacular. A hot bubbling sea, a warm sulfur-mud pond, black obsidian and white pumice rocks, volcanic tuff in all shades of pastell colours, yellow-orange chrystals of sulfur, stinging sulforic acid fumes, a fire-spiting mountain... Rarely can you get so close to earth’s most inner being.
The sea surrounding the islands is extremely clear and of a most special blue. You will get to know beaches of finest pitch-black sands...

The Eolian cooking is light and delicious. It does not contain much meat, but lots of fresh fish of all kinds and many different vegetables, cooked and mixed in the typical Eolian way. Not to forget the sweet deserts, the good wines and the famous Malvasia. Let yourselves be surprised by the islands’ specialities!

The Eolian Islands are the home of Eolus – God of the Winds. It can always happen that the programme has to be changed due to windy weather conditions. That’s why the run of this trip can always vary and is unpredictible...
