During this journey I will show you the famous and also the hidden treasures of the Eolian Islands.
Our long walks for fit and good hikers, lead us through wild and uninhabitat zones, over ashes and old streams of lava, close to steaming fumaroles and also through orchards of olive trees and the typical Macchie with its unique perfume. The Mediterranean flora with its almost unnumbered species will amaze us especially in springtime.
People interested in geology will find the whole varity of volcanic minerals.
After longer and sometimes steep hikes, we shall have the most magnificent views over the whole archipelago, so beautiful, breathtaking. A famous panoramic viewpoint called "Quattro Occhi" means "four eyes" in Italian: you want to have four eyes to be able to see all of it!
But not only those who like pure and elemental nature will be satisfied: the archeological museum of Lipari is famous all over the world. You will see a survey over the whole history of the Mediterranean since 5000 b.C., shown in a clear and yet touching way.
We shall visit the ruins of two villages of the Bronze-age, including the world's first sauna.
Two trips around the islands of Stromboli and Filicudi are part of the programme but not included in the price.
In order to give you the opportunity to really experience as many islands as possible, we shall hop from one island to another during the first week: on Stromboli we shall stay in a nice little hotel just above the beach. We shall make a daylong excursion to Panarea. On Salina we shall pass three nights in a beautiful hotel of typical Eolian style also close to the sea. Then we shall finally reach Lipari, where we shall live in apartments and studios belonging to a unique hotel, where we shall have our breakfast. For dinner we shall go to different restaurants, pizzerias and trattorias and also to a agriturismo (farm).
From Lipari we shall go on excursions to Vulcano and Filicudi, perhaps also to Alicudi.
Besides our hikings there will be enough time to just relax on a beach, to go for a swim (at Easter probably not for everybody!), to stroll around narrow streets, to promenade on the Corso, to enjoy an ice-cream, a cappuccino or a Campari in a bar at the port, to sit under a lemon-tree in the garden of the hotel or read a book in the old theatre...
The trip in springtime will be influenced by the activities of the Holy Week around Easter.
